Preview images are an essential part of every artwork entry. Learn how to manage yours quickly and easily.
A picture is worth a thousand words! Having multiple preview images for an artwork entry allows you to give more additional visual information, for example to show details of signatures and other markings or include framed reproduction or installation shots.
To manage an artwork's preview image, you can easily choose multiple images from the artwork dossier and put them in your preferred the order, and of course add or remove those images whenever needed.
Step 1: Upload images to the dossier.
If you already have your images ready in the dossier, skip this step and start with step 2!
- Go to the section Dossier and click on the Add button.
- Now you can choose to either Add media or Upload media.
- Click on Upload media to upload images from your computer. You can then choose one or multiple image files from your hard drive. Confirm your choice to upload the images to the dossier.
- Click on Add media if the images are already located in your archive and you want to move them to the artwork dossier. An overlay will open and search for the desired resource using the filters of the archive search. Choose the images by clicking on them. To confirm your choice click on Select in the bottom right corner.

Step 2: Select the primary image.
- After adding the images to the Dossier go back to the top of the page to add the primary image.
- Click on + Add Preview Images.
- Now an overlay with all the images currently in the dossier will open. Select the image you want to use by checking the box of the image.
- Click the Select button to confirm your choice.
- Now an overview with the the preview images will open. The primary preview image can be identified by its marker. Click on Close in the bottom right corner to complete the action.

Step 3: Select additional preview images.
- Click on Edit preview images below the set preview image.
- Click on + Add to see all the images currently in the Dossier.
- Select all the images you want to add by checking the boxes of each image. Note that the current primary image cannot be unchecked.
- Click the Select button to confirm your choice and go to the complete list of preview images.
Step 4: Manage preview images.
- Click on Edit preview images below the set preview image to see the overview of all selected preview images.
- To change the order of the images, hover over an image (you'll notice the cursor changing) and drag the image to the desired position.
- To replace the current primary image, simply drag another image to the first position. You'll notice the primary marker switching instantly
- To add more preview images, click on + Add and select media from the dossier as described above
- To remove a preview image click on the bin icon next to the image you want to delete. Note that the primary preview image cannot be deleted. In order to delete the primary image you first have to replace it with another image as described above in Step 4.3
- Once you are done, click the Close button in the bottom right corner to return to the artwork detail page.
