Hello, we’re Navigating.art
Our cultural heritage currently lives in databases, paper archives, books, and collections across the globe, limited in accessibility by outdated technology and processes. But new digital tools can help connect those siloes, encourage collaboration, and enhance transparency.
Navigating.art exists to protect and promote cultural heritage by empowering teams with the tools they need to smoothly create and publish digital catalogues raisonnés and archives.
Our story
In 2021, a group of art historians and technologists recognized the potential of digital tools to improve the lives of art professionals and founded Navigating.art. Since then, we’ve applied digital strategies to meet the needs of ambitious 21st-century researchers developing catalogues raisonnés for a global audience.
Navigating.art is supported by the Hasso Plattner Foundation and is a member of ICRA, CRSA, and the American Alliance of Museums Industry Partners.
"The platform has an enormous advantage because it creates a living document; you can grow and change your completed catalogue raisonné as needed. […] We feel that Navigating.art’s background, support, and team ensure the longevity of our project as it grows and changes."
Robert Mattison Director of the Franz Kline Paintings, 1950–1962

We take the road less traveled
The best work happens when challenging the status quo. Bold, effective, and unconventional actions ensure we directly and positively impact the art world.

We’re collaborative
The best ideas come from multiple perspectives. We prioritize collaboration within our team and with our customers. We know how to listen, explore opportunities, and respond effectively.

We enjoy what we do
We work to increase transparency and collaboration in the art world, and we have a good time doing it. Developing our platform and supporting customers gives us energy — as do the occasional breaks.
