We are Navigating.art

Cultural heritage lives in databases, paper archives, books, and collections across the globe. But new  digital tools can help connect those silos, encourage collaboration, and enhance transparency.

Navigating.art is a nonprofit organization that exists to protect and promote cultural heritage by empowering teams with the tools they need to create and publish digital catalogues raisonnés and archives smoothly.

Everything we do is about protecting and promoting cultural heritage.

Our story

In 2021, a group of art historians and developers recognized the potential of new technologies to ease the creation of digital catalogues raisonnés and archives for global audiences. Navigating.art has since applied digital strategies to meet the needs of institutions, increasing the availability of historic materials and lowering the barrier to comprehensive research. It became a nonprofit organization in 2024, supported by the Hasso Plattner Foundation, bringing its legal status in line with its mission to protect and promote cultural heritage.

About the Hasso Plattner Foundation

The Hasso Plattner Foundation pursues philanthropic initiatives that educate and inspire generations and bring about positive societal change in the areas of science, environmental conservation, and art.
